The Penn Health-Tech Seed Grant Program is intended to provide short-term financial and advisory support to project teams towards the goal of obtaining long-term financial support to bring their health technology innovation to market.
Applicant Eligibility
Applicants must be faculty or staff of the University of Pennsylvania or the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Awardees Receive:
- Funding in the range of $2,500 to $25,000, based on the project needs
- Hands-on advising to support development
- Access to industry experts and complementary programs to assist with engineering and design, manufacturing, regulatory guidance, quality systems, and marketing
Expectations of Awardees
Penn Health-Tech takes a hands-on, active approach to project management, with funding and continued support tied to the achievement of defined technical and business milestones. Project teams are expected to dedicate the necessary time and resources to advance their work and to be receptive to mentorship and guidance aimed at progressing their innovation toward commercialization.
Project Requirements
- The project is health-tech focused and/or is a medical device
- The project team has a dedicated member to lead the project deliverables
- The project can identify sources of follow-on funding for further development
