Unmet Clinical Need
There are approximately 500,000 patients present annually in the United States for chest wall trauma. Current technology limits number patients that can be surgically repaired, resulting in long-term disability, narcotic pain management, and the inability to maintain employment. Internal fixation has shown improved outcomes compared to conventional management, but since procedure is not MIS (minimally invasive surgery), it is only performed for the severely injured.
