Background

COPD causes 15 million Americans to suffer intolerable shortness of breath (SOB). This is directly related to increased respiratory muscle workload. Patients are provided supplemental oxygen and inhaled medication. These treatment options do not allow patients to perform basic activities (single flight of stairs).
