Unmet Clinical Need
Infants with cleft palate cannot use standard feeding bottles properly due to an opening in the roof of the mouth, which cannot be closed off from the nose. Until corrective surgery, these infants cannot take advantage of their innate sucking reflex, which can have developmental impacts.
