Innovation is spurred by creative problem solving, unique approaches and visualizing the long term objectives and goals. Innovation is at the core of Penn, inspiring engineers, entrepreneurs, scientists, creatives, collaborators, and researchers to push boundaries, reject norms, and answer the challenges of tomorrow. That same desire to develop is what attracts some of the brightest young minds from across the world. Penn provides students with the support to freely explore and test the boundaries of innovation. No other event captures that drive and passion like the Catalyzer at Penn.
Every Catalyzer, over 100 students gather in the halls of the School of Engineering and Applied Science for a weekend of ideating, developing, prototyping and pitching - all of which happen in just 36 hours. Organized by Penn Health-Tech, the Catalyzer aims to spark that innovative spirit in students, giving them the tools and resources of Penn Engineering to bring their concepts to life. It is an event that can arguably be the start of the competition cycle during the academic year. What would normally be an otherwise brisk October weekend turns into a marathon of creativity, camaraderie, and ingenuity.
