 Samantha Surrey is an investor, entrepreneur, and engineer with a distinguished track record. She is the founder of Surrey Capital Partners (SCP), a life science impact innovation fund. SCP’s mission is to improve patients live and as its founder, Samantha is passionate about advancing the fields of science and engineering that will define the medicine of tomorrow. Through deep industry expertise, SCP has exclusive access to a pipeline of Biotech and Healthcare companies with early to mid-stage technologies and life-changing devices. 

Prior to Surrey Capital Partners, Samantha Co-Founded Decision Medical Ventures, a life sciences investment firm focused on bringing to market an advanced medical ultrasound technology for the early, non-invasive detection of cancer and other serious medical conditions as well as for use in orthopedics and robotic surgery. Samantha’s prior experience includes Worldwide Business Development and M&A Deal Finance at GSK, where she was responsible for managing a portfolio of direct investments and fund of funds, negotiating global licensing deals, joint ventures, and acquisitions with other pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Prior to GSK, Samantha worked at a venture capital private equity fund in London, focusing on life sciences in areas of biotechnology, medical devices, therapeutics, and nanotechnology. She also worked at the Cabinet Office in the Ministry of Science and Technology working on the Global Innovation Forum. 

Samantha serves on the Boards of Directors of Decision Sciences Medical Company, OSES (Outlook Surgical Endoscopy System) and AiM Medical Robotics. She also serves on the advisory boards of Endeavor Healthcare, AZ Therapies (late-stage Alzheimer’s Therapies) as well as the Board of Advisors for University of Pennsylvania School for Engineering, Cornell University Center for Entrepreneurship, Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics and Google Accelerator with a special focus on A.I. for Healthcare. Samantha also extensively advises numerous other start-ups, private equity funds. 

Samantha graduated summa cum laude with an M.S. Eng. in biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, with a joint published thesis in robotic surgery with the Engineering School at Oxford University. Samantha holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering and Applied Mathematics from Cornell University. She has a published paper that was presented at the Engineering and Medicine Society Conference in France with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA, as well a published thesis on Artificial Muscles and the Applications to Robotic Surgery. Samantha has developed numerous patents, one of which, in genomics, a 3-D protein model, was sold to Microsoft. She is also a Harvard Business School alumna, Owner’s President Management Program (OPM 53).
