Lawrence E. Fried, MD, MBA, is a pediatric epileptologist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he joined the faculty in 2017. He completed his MBA from Wharton in 2022, with a strong interest in innovation and entrepreneurship. As a lifelong wearer of hearing aids, Larry has watched the field grow through innovation. He credits these experiences with hearing-impaired innovations with cultivating my interest in blending technology and medicine, and hope to help other children and adults manage their conditions and thrive.
He is currently a co-principal investigator on a $2M HRSA grant that looks at ways to improve healthcare delivery for children and youth with epilepsy. One goal has been to address healthcare disparities with regard to telemedicine access. We also created a game to help teach teenagers to how pick up their prescriptions and prepare them for adulthood. I am also a consultant for Virpax Pharmaceuticals, helping them to create new treatment options for children with epilepsy.
I am excited to work with the Penn Health Tech fellowship program to cultivate new treatments and technologies that will improve care for children and adults with a variety of conditions.
