Lawrence E. Fried, MD, MBA

Lawrence E. Fried, MD, MBA, is a Pediatric Epileptologist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he joined the faculty in 2017. He earned his MBA from the Wharton School in 2022, fueling his strong interest in healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship. As a lifelong user of hearing aids, Dr. Fried has witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of technological advancements in medical devices. These experiences inspired his commitment to integrating technology and medicine to help children and adults better manage their conditions and thrive.

Dr. Fried currently serves as a co-principal investigator on a $2 million HRSA grant focused on improving healthcare delivery for children and youth with epilepsy. As part of this work, his team is addressing disparities in telemedicine access and has developed an educational game to help teenagers learn how to manage their prescriptions and prepare for independent adulthood. In addition, he serves as a consultant for Virpax Pharmaceuticals, supporting the development of new treatment options for children with epilepsy.
