OUR PROGRAMS

Pilot Award Program

The Pilot Award Program provides pilot funding, mentorship, and project management support to innovators across the University of Pennsylvania ecosystem. Through a competitive selection process, Penn Health-Tech maintains a portfolio of medical device and health technology development projects, moving them from novel research and discovery phases through proof of concept and prototyping.

For more information, visit our Call for Proposals or Our Portfolio pages.

Rothberg Catalyzer at Penn

Our hardware take on the classic “hackathon,” the Rothberg Catalyzer at Penn is an interactive two-month program that gets students excited about health technology and innovation. There are 3 educational workshops, called Design Studios, which teach essential elements of design thinking, prototyping, and pitching. This culminates into a 30 hour makerthon weekend where student teams develop a prototype to unmet healthcare needs and pitch to a panel of judges for a chance to win $10,000.

Students receive access to lab space at Penn Engineering as well as feedback and support from clinical, technical, and business mentors throughout the two-month program.
