Introducing the 6 Teams Fueling Innovation in Penn Health-Tech’s 2026 Accelerator

Philadelphia, July 16, 2026 – Penn Health-Tech, the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Health, Devices, and Technology, welcomes six teams to  its 2026-2027 Heath-Tech Accelerator cohort.

Penn Health-Tech (PHT) supports innovators throughout Penn and CHOP with turning innovative ideas into commercializable technologies. Since launching in 2017, PHT has supported over 110 teams and provided more than $4 million in funding to advance early-stage health technology development.

The Health-Tech Accelerator (HTA) combines access to Penn’s innovation ecosystem, up to $75,000 in pilot funding, mentorship, and project management to help teams translate promising research into real-world clinical solutions. The program supports faculty and staff from the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Collectively, HTA alumni have received more than $170 million in follow-on funding from government agencies, corporate partners, and venture capital investors.

Elizabeth Hyde, MD, MSE, of the incoming team CapnoSense, shares her excitement about joining the 2026 cohort and what the team aims to accomplish over the coming year:

“We are incredibly excited to join the Penn Health-Tech Accelerator program and grateful for the opportunity to continue development of our pediatric bag-mask ventilation feedback device! We are most looking forward to utilizing the Accelerator’s engineering, clinical, and commercialization resources to help advance the device from an early-stage research concept toward a clinically deployable prototype.”

QuantCap

QuantCap is a wearable device that automates capillary refill time measurement using mechanical compression and multi-wavelength photoplethysmography, delivering objective, skin-tone-independent perfusion monitoring for patients in septic shock.

Immune Health NewCo

A machine-learning platform that analyzes a patient's immune system to generate an individual immune fingerprint, predicting treatment response to enable more precise patient stratification in biopharma clinical trials. By identifying which patients are most likely to respond to a therapy before enrollment, the platform improves trial success rates and reduces the cost of failed trials for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

Advancing Intraoperative Fluorescence Imaging of NSCLC (Fluorosurgical Biosciences)

Fluorosurgical Biosciences is developing ChoGlo, a targeted near-infrared imaging agent that addresses the unmet need for accurate detection of tumor margins and occult lesions during surgery. ChoGlo targets choline kinase α, which is over-expressed in aggressive cancers, enabling real-time visualization of malignant tissue.

CapnoSense

Bag-mask ventilation (BMV) is a lifesaving but technically difficult intervention for children in respiratory failure, and poor-quality breaths significantly increase the risk of respiratory complications such as low oxygen levels and cardiac arrest. CapnoSense is a watch-sized, AI-enabled device that integrates with existing BMV equipment and uses exhaled CO₂ waveforms to provide real-time, objective feedback on breath quality, with the goal of improving ventilation performance, reducing airway complications, and lowering preventable ICU costs.

With the 2026 cohort underway, we are excited to share that applications for the 2027 Accelerator program will open on September 16th.

Selected teams will benefit from:

  • Up to $75,000 in pilot funding tied to milestone-based project progress
  • Hands-on, personalized advising aligned with their stage of development
  • Comprehensive project management support to guide both technical de-risking (prototype development, proof of concept) and/or commercial de-risking (setting development milestones, clinical strategy, regulatory strategy, reimbursement strategy, etc.)
